Our skateboards are handcrafted using camphor trees sourced from a nearby farm located in the vicinity of Nimbin, a hippy town. The farm has its own mill and stockpiles of pre-cut logs accumulated over the years. These logs are transformed into planks suited for skateboards, which are then manually crafted using heavy machinery to thin the planks to an appropriate thickness. The planks are shaped according to three templates: penny, cruiser, and longboards. The boards' edges are sanded, and they are oiled to enhance the grain, patterns, and colors.
Camphor trees are renowned for their distinctive fragrance and earthy aroma. However, despite their popularity, they are not native to the region and are considered an invasive species. Local farmers often attempt to control their growth, as they tend to spread uncontrollably, impeding the growth of other native plants and trees. The surplus camphor trees are usually cut into logs, which are utilized in making a variety of items, including furniture such as tables, chairs, cabinets, and chopping boards. The unique patterns that form during the tree's life make every camphor tree object authentic and one-of-a-kind, making them an excellent gift idea.
